The short version

We do not keep your screenshot. We keep the roast text for as long as your account exists, so your share link works. We do not sell data and we do not run ad trackers.

Your account

To buy a roast you sign in with Google. We store your Google account id, email address and name, a sign-in cookie that lasts 30 days, and which roasts and payments belong to your account. We also keep when your account was made and when you last signed in. All of it is kept while your account exists. Email support@roastometer.com to have your account and everything in it deleted.

Your screenshot

Your browser shrinks the image, then sends it to our server once. The server passes it to an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) to write the roast. The image is held in memory for that request and is not saved by us. For the full roast, your browser sends it again, because we never kept it. Anthropic processes it under its own terms; we do not use your screenshot to train anything.

If you paste a link instead, our server opens that page in a browser run by our host, Cloudflare, and takes one screenshot of its first screen. It may open the page again later: at laptop size if your browser no longer has its copy, and at phone size for a full roast of a page whose link we have. Those screenshots go to the model the same way, then back to your browser, and are not saved by us. Only paste links to public pages.

What we keep

• The roast: score, verdict, jokes and fix, plus the page URL and one-line description if you typed them. Kept while your account exists.
• The share card: the picture drawn in your browser from the roast text. Kept while your account exists.
• Usage counts: how many roasts were made and how many tokens they used, so we can pay the bill and stop abuse. They are kept with the roast they belong to, so with your account. They hold no name or email themselves, and if your account is deleted they stay as plain counts that point at no one.
• Daily limit counters: how many roasts were bought today, and how many page checks and refunds your account has had, so we can stop abuse. They count one day at a time, and old ones are deleted.

What stays on your device

Your browser stores your light or dark choice, a small note for each roast of whether its share card was uploaded and its .zip downloaded, and a small copy of your screenshot for 30 days. The notes stay until you clear your browser data. The copy lets the full roast see your page without you picking it again, and it goes into your roast's .zip. It leaves your browser only when you ask for a roast, and it is deleted the first time you open this site after those 30 days.

While you sign in, this tab also keeps the page address and description you typed and your screenshot's file name, so your roast can carry on when you come back. They are used once, ignored after ten minutes, and gone when you close the tab. You can clear all of this in your browser settings.

Payments

Dodo Payments processes your payment as merchant of record; we never see your card. We keep the payment's id, amount and status. We give Dodo your email address and name so it can run the checkout and send your receipt.

Sharing

Anyone with your roast link can see the roast and its card for as long as your account exists. We do not list roasts publicly.
